PEP Promotions - Charmin Manual Dispenser

This lever-activated Charmin tissue dispenser is one of the oddest and most enjoyable projects I developed at Ryan Scott. The original concept, created by a Ryan Scott sales designer in collaboration with PEP Promotions, was designed as an engaging point-of-purchase device, allowing shoppers to interact directly with the product and experience how easily it tears.

I took the concept from idea to a fully functional prototype, which ultimately led to a 10-store rollout. I fabricated the outer body using laser-cut panels that I chemically bonded together, and designed, 3D printed, and assembled all internal mechanisms myself.

The lever system was engineered to be intuitive to operate, consistently dispense 2–3 sheets, and withstand the forces of a one-handed tear-off, balancing usability with durability in a retail environment.

The project is now moving into its next phase, where the design will be further simplified for mass production with the goal of expanding into a broader retail rollout.
