Duke Cannon Aviator Display
This is one of my favorite displays I’ve engineered. The concept was to have the products staged inside the open cargo door of a vintage bomber. My challenge was bringing that vision to life in a way that felt authentic.
For the prototype, I built the fuselage from 4mm Dibond, skinned with thin-gauge aluminum and finished with real pop rivets to capture the look and feel of an aircraft body. The internal framing uses ½" aluminum plate, while the sides are enclosed with ghillie cloth to reinforce the military aesthetic.
The base is constructed as a distressed, military-style crate using 2x4s and plywood printed and finished to match the theme. Adjustable steel shelves (by 1" increments) provide flexibility, and a horizontal steel cable threaded through eyelets echoes the look of a rudder control system.
The products are illuminated from above with white LEDs and integrated lighting beneath each shelf, giving the display depth and a clean, high-contrast presentation.
After this prototype was finished, we ultimately simplified the display and made the fuselage a more production-friendly curved print in lieu of the real riveted metal.
